Feeling Anxious?

flower-garden

A few weeks ago we published a blog about using yoga to treat symptoms of anxiety. If you missed it you can find it right here!  If you read the blog or just saw the word yoga and thought that is so not for me, that’s okay. Anxiety is a common diagnosis and there are many different treatments available and together we can find the one that is right for you. Anxiety can be incredibly overwhelming, you may find it hard to concentrate, your emotions may feel out of your control, and you may find yourself constantly fighting the urge to just retreat from the world. Add these feeling to the physical symptoms of anxiety, which may include racing heartbeat, sweating, upset stomach, dizziness, head ache, or shortness of breath; and it is easy to see why anxiety is so challenging to live with.

If these symptoms sound all too familiar I am here to offer help. While yoga may not be for you there are many other ways to approach the treatment of anxiety. Through the use of mindfulness techniques we will work to help connect with your physical body to better manage your anxiety.  Mindfulness is the first step to learning to control your anxiety and living a more peaceful life (Forsyth & Eifert, 2007). Together we will explore concepts of mindfulness and values to create a manageable plan based on small steps that will alleviate your anxiety in any situation.

By breaking the treatment for anxiety down into small manageable steps we are actually setting you up for large victories. The journey to a less anxious life can be a long one but if you are willing to reach out for help and do the work it is a journey full of great rewards. Rewards such as calmness, feeling in control of your life, and creating a better world, in which anxiety is no longer in control.

If you or someone you know is interested in exploring relief from anxiety the Chrysalis Healing Collaborative is here to help.  Please contact Michele, MFT Intern and Certified Yoga Alliance Instructor at 417-322-4033 or mgrace@claudinemiller.com or contact  Chrysalis Counseling  at info@claudinemiller.com or call 314-780-8328 to find the right counselor for you.
